Jeff Herring 24 Jul 2008 | : Article Marketing Tip of the Week, Article Traffic
Do you know how to create long term traffic with your articles? You will when you read and use this article.
Once your articles are posted on the article directories, they are there forever bringing you traffic and visitors.
These are what I call your evergreen lifer articles. They’re lifers. They’re evergreen. They’re always going to be there.
I have evergreen articles in two places.
1. It’s amazing to me when I get Google alerts for my name and some newspaper somewhere in the world has pulled off the wire an article I wrote in 1995 and used it in their newspaper. It just stuns me! That’s offline where these are evergreen.
2. Online I discovered article directories in the spring of 2005. Somebody told me about it on a call. Those of you that struggle with being able to be an expert and being able to talk to people about stuff, I was on a practice building call talking about writing and marketing articles to build a business and I had never heard of article directories.
This was about a year before article marketing really took off. It had always been there. On that call one of the listeners told me about article directories and I thought, “What a great idea!”
So articles that I had submitted to the online directories in the spring of 2005 are still working for me every day. I want to drive this home to you about the importance of this long-term traffic.
This is traffic that produces income from Continue Reading »

Regular & consistent traffic
This is about getting a consistent flow over time. I know that articles that I had approved last week, two weeks, three weeks ago, five weeks ago are still bringing in traffic for me and will for ever.
We’ll talk about that under long-term traffic tomorrow. But think about this. Whatever pace you’re on - an article a month, an article a week, an article a day - if you’re doing an article a day and give yourself a couple days off a week, you know that every time you do that behind you is an article that’s out there working for you while you’re putting in other articles.
It just continues to compound and just continues to build.
Once that article is launched, Continue Reading »

Q: I’d like your opinion on something. An internet business friend claims that submitting articles to article directories is a waste of time. She says to put all the articles on my website, and the search engines will find me because of the content and strategically used keywords, etc. She says I should just have tons of content on my site. What do you think?
A: Well, I’ve got two answers to your question, and I’m really glad you asked it.
1. Your “internet business friend” is not only wrong, she is very wrong about submitting your articles to the articles directories. There is so much misinformation on the internet, and it really bugs me when I hear about stuff like this.
Thing of it this way - in what way could it possibly be a waste of time to spread samples of your expertise all over the internet that are working for you 24/7 all over the world? This is exactly what happens when you submit your articles to the article directories.
2. Where your “internet business friend” is correct is on the benefits of having your articles on your own web site. This is a good strategy to use and just makes sense.
Now here is my question to you: Why not do both? Why not have your articles on your own web site or blog and submit them to the article directories and have them spread all over the internet?
You can also use your articles on social networking sites and turn them into audios and videos.
So in the final analysis you want to do both and more with your articles.
And to help you do both and more, I’d like to offer you free access to 2 of my Instant Article Templates when you subscribe to my free Article Marketing Minute, a 52 week audio/video newsletter on Article Marketing. You can get your instant access at http://www.ArticleMarketingMinute.com |

Notice I didn’t say “how to write” a list building article in the title. To craft an article that’s going to do what you want it to do on the internet, I believe it’s a combination of science and art, or of skill and art. Some of this is skill and some of this is art, so that’s why the word “craft.”
Here’s how you craft an article that will help you build your list and get people clicking through because they want more of what they just got and they want it from you.
Start with a powerful tip
When you begin the article with a powerful tip, you have engaged the reader right away. Now think about it. It doesn’t take that long to read 300-500 words, which is the typical article, but we’re all very, very busy.
If an article isn’t doing something for me right away, I’m usually gone. So if you offer them a good tip from the beginning, you’ve got them hooked from the beginning and they’re flowing through the article.
They’ve gotten that good tip in the first couple of paragraphs, so at the psychological level they’re thinking, “Okay, I’ve got one. Where’s the next one? I want more. Come on, show it to me.”
End with your most Continue Reading »

Here in the States it’s the 4th of July - Independence Day.
Wherever you are in the world, the word independence is important to us all. That’s one of the many things I love about what is being called “the internet lifestyle.”
So here is my annual article on independence - “freedom from” and “freedom to.”
Freedom From
Freedom From - Living someone else’s dream. Many of the people that do the typical 9 to 5 day are living someone else’s dream. Even though they get a “paycheck” they are working for the benefit of someone else.
Freedom From - Boredom. Most internet entrepreneurs I know are like me. We do not handle boredom very well. That is definitely one of the advantages of this life style, as you are able to work on multiple projects that you created and enjoy.
Freedom To
Freedom To - Create not only the lifestyle you desire, but the kind of work you want to do. Creating new products and new adventures is so much fun. Remember creativity is simply Continue Reading »
