One of the frequently asked questions I receive about article writing is

“How do I write an article without giving away everything I know?’

Well, first of all the good news - since the optimum length for an article on the internet is 300 - 500 words, you really can’t give away everything you know.

Having said that, allow me to introduce a concept to you called “topic slicing.” Topic slicing is simply choosing one topic from the many in your niche, and slicing off a small sliver of that topic to focus on in your article. Choose one slice of a topic and make that slice the theme and point of your article.

Too many article writers bite off more than they can chew in 300 - 500 words and wind trying to say too much in the article. For example, the point and theme of this article is the frequently asked question “How do I write an article without giving away everything I know?’ and topic slicing.

I’ve mentioned suggested word counts as part of that topic, but I am not going to write an article or even part of an article on word count. This is about topic slicing.

Let’s use the example of relationships, which is a very broad category. If you try to write an article about all forms of relationships and everything related to relationships, you are going to have a problem.

But if you slice the topic of relationships to a small slice, you can then write an article about what to talk about and what not to talk about on a first date.

And one more really cool thing about topic slicing - it really helps you increase your volume of great quality articles.
