The greatest gift a mother can give is the ability to soar on your own . . . mine did and I thank her and miss her every day. She’s been gone over 25 years today.
Perfect Mother’s Day video. Six kids back and decades ago I wrote
“Raven, raven, afraid to jump for fear of falling, afraid to jump to fear of flying”. And then I met the eagle in me.
Now in elder age- I am looking for inner eagle once again.
and by the way, Thanks to Jeff’s Mom for the gift of Jeff.
Jeff, What a great video for this beautiful Mother’s Day morning. Happy Mother’s Day to every mother here today. I miss my Mom everyday. Sometimes our jobs aren’t the easiest but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Good choice, Jeff. Eaglets don’t know they’re eagles until pushed.
For my mother, and all the mother’s who taught their children to walk, then “fly,” I give thanks. For those who haven’t yet flown, maybe this video is a good reminder. And for those of us who’ve flown then fallen, may it also be a great reminder that our “wings” are still there.
What a great video. My life was a “push” and “pull”. Dad pushed but Mom held on…for some time I had resent about the pull and then I heard a quote the other day by Maya Angelou: ” We do better when we know better”. My mom had me when she was a late teenager and our parents do the best they can with what they know. So I have discovered later in my life that often your big push comes from a mentor(not necessarily a blood relative) And mentors can be difficult to find. Consider yourself lucky or blessed when you find one who cares enough like the Eagle. When the student is ready the master will appear.
Happy Day to Moms, Dads, Foster Parents, Significant others and Mentors…
We can all help Push others at the appropriate time. I’m being pushed right now by a business colleague who is challenging me to finally get my business growing and creating a real income – no more “tinkering”. It’s scary because I’m not soaring yet – but I know it will come.
Thanks for the video that is a perfect reminder for me.
“Why does the thrill of soaring have to begin with the fear of falling?” she thought.
Aren’t those such apt words?!
I don’t know, Jeff. I’m not sure if this is possible, but since I’m such an unassuming, “behind-the-scenes,” quietly helping type person (akin to being the songwriter, not the singer), I always figured my dislike of what I perceive to be in the limelight or the center of attention was why I tend not to like jumping right out there.
Something more?? Hmmm…
This video is wonderful! I may just utilize it when working with my own clients as it could help to illustrate some of what I talk about too!
Jeff, we’ve never met but we will be talking tomorrow am. Thanks for that timely video. Everyone can use a push or sometimes a big shove from time to time. Words of encouragement and gratitude from my patients mean a lot to me.
The number one benefit you get from a mentor is validation that you can achieve your goal and they can help you from making too many mistakes because of their experience.
Jeff, this was sent to me about 2 years ago by a really old great friend. Thanks for reminding me how powerful this is. As you know the eagle is on my website with my quote: “soar above your current altitude and fly with full wing span”. That has been my mantra since I launched Feb 2007. I have always resonated with eagles. Awesome natural wonder. I love them..

This is a perfect Mother’s Day video! This is exactly what a true mother does for her children… push them to be empowered and fully realized!
My mom is fantastic example of this and I got my 1st beautiful Mother’s day cards and gifts from Jonathon & Caleb who wished me a Happy Mother’s Day!

Maritza –
It’s like your buddy Oprah once said:
“Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.”
Jonathon and Caleb (and players to be named later) are very lucky…

Steve – here in the South we call tinkering “fixin’ to” – As in “I’m fixin’ to go to the store” etc.
No more tinkerin’ and fixin’ to for you…
